St. Catherine Laboure

This area relates to all parish related education programs.

St. Catherine Laboure Parish provides a structured program called, "The Sunday Religious Education Program", for the religious education of elementary school children not attending the parish school. The curriculum includes all dimensions of religious education: doctrine, scripture, liturgy, prayer, service and sacramental preparation. The curriculum is taught in a spirit of cooperative learning and hands-on activities that connect religion to everyday life experiences. Classes for grades kindergarten through 7th are held on Sundays. Eighth grade Confirmation students have a different schedule, with varied times and days. Additional activities are offered during the year. Parental involvement is encouraged and a volunteer form is given to each family. Registration forms are available in the rectory. Adults who are willing to be Catechists are encouraged to fill out an application form and will be contacted for an interview. For more information, please contact June Gavin at 724-2240 or 729-1414. ADULT SCRIPTURE STUDY
The SCL Adult Scripture Study is committed to study one book of the Bible each semester through a study program. The small groups begin in September, break for Christmas, start again in January, and finish in Spring. Each person buys a commentary which contains the readings with an explanation and a study guide which supplies questions encouraging discussion all for a nominal cost of materials. There are a variety of small groups that meet at SCL and in private homes. Each session begins and ends with shared prayer and because of the small size of each group, everyone is allowed to share if desired. For more information, contact Ginny Safranek at 998-8226.

PARISH LIBRARY
The Parish Library Committee organizes and maintains the Parish Library so that parishioners can avail themselves of this resource in deepening their spiritual life. The committee catalogues new books as they are donated, maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the library, reviews books for appropriateness.
