THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS – Fr. John J. Dussman Council

A national organization of Catholic men, the Knights of
Columbus’ guiding principles are: Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.
They promote catholic action, youth services, support the Newman Apostolate at
secular universities and also have a full schedule of social events. Contact

LADIES AUXILIARY OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
Their ministry’s statement is the same as the Knights and
they support the knights. In addition, they have their own meetings and

NAMI OF COOK COUNTY NORTH SUBURBAN
The primary functions of NAMI ("National Alliance for
Mental Illness") are support, education, advocacy, resources and
referrals to families and to the patients who suffer from a mental illness;
and the education of the general public. NAMI’s roots grew from the need of
people for knowledge, understanding, sharing of grief, relief of guilt, and
mutual support. Scientifically defined brain disorders are: Anxiety and Panic
Disorders, Bipolar Disorder Attention Deficit Hyperactivity (ADHD), Major
Depressive Illnesses, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Pervasive
Developmental Disorders and Schizophrenia. NAMI offers support and educational
meetings; an informative monthly newsletter; Family-to-Family 12-week
education program. We provide birthday gifts to 500 patients at our area

DISCOVERY WEEKENDS
Discovery weekends are for engaged couples and are held at
a retreat house. Team members and Discovery Board members edit and write the
Discovery Newsletter which is sent to all Discovery Team members. This is one
of several programs designed to meet the requirements for pre-marriage
preparation. Be sure to inquire about the other programs so you can choose
what best suits your needs. Find out more information by contacting the

MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER SHARING
A group of couples who have each experienced a Marriage
Encounter Weekend, now meet on a monthly basis to share the spiritual and
practical aspects of marriage. If you are interest in more information about
making a Marriage Encounter weekend and are interested in joining a sharing
group, call Marge O’Brien at 847-998-5633. We would be happy to help you.
